Lure & Fly Fishing means, of course, using a Lure or Fly to catch your Fish. This is real Sportfishing!

You will use all the techniques and skills you developed in reel fishing since you began, combined with our experienced skippers giving you an amazing Sportsfishing experience!

Our FULL DAY LURE & FLY FISHING TOUR heads to a local river, 1-2 hours drive from Cairns by air-conditioned 4WD, while the HALF DAY LURE & FLY FISHING TOUR is in the Cairns Inlet.

You will enjoy the extraordinary scenery of the Tropical North, including the River Mangrove Ecosystems and the beautiful birdlife and wild crocodiles sunbaking in the heat of the day. Now you really have the opportunity to feel at one with nature!

ALL TACKLE SPORTFISHING are able to access a range of local river systems including the Mulgrave River, Russell River, Johnstone River or the Daintree River. Your skilled local Captain will confirm the best location for your complete fishing experience, based on the conditions of the day. For this reason, using your own transport is not recommended.

If you chose our FULL DAY LURE & FLY FISHING TOUR, you will have the benefit of both freshwater and salt water fishing (where the tide and conditions allow). The HALF DAY LURE & FLY FISHING TOUR is at Cairns Inlet (Pure salt water). Our Full day Tour is not an Extended Half day Tour, and has a higher possiblity of you catching that Barramundi you dreamed of!

Our standard Lure Fishing Tackle is 6kg Main line which connects to 50Lb Leader line (about 40cm long) by Bimini twisted Double lines by an albright knot. If you have 150m line stock in your reel as main, this is good enough, but your reel must have a smooth drag system. Drag power is 2kg Max. Normally 1 to 1.5kg.
Is the Main Line mono or braided ? Your choice - mono is easier to use, braided can be more difficult sometimes, but if you are used to braided no problem.
Spin or Bait cast reel ? If you do not usually use Bait reel, no reason to use a Bait Reel. The Spin Reel is also sufficient, but please be sure to stop Lure whenever you cast it, to avoid catching a Tree (Monkey Fishing!!). If Fishing in a shallow area, use Gold Bomber Long A (of course!). In a deep area, use Rapala Shad Rap deep type. Colour is always Gold and Silver, and yes, a shiny type Lure is always more succsesfull. However, please remember change to strong hook which is like VMC type on your Lure, otherwise you've lost the big one! If you need rental tackle, we are able to assist, but any equipment lost or damaged is at your cost.

If you want to do Fly Fishing, please advise when you book, and you will need to provide your own Fly fishing tackle which is no 8. We have Flies available for your use.
